"On The Rock" (words and music by Brian Toogood)
I am so thankful to have made this record. It seemed like an impossible undertaking especially at this point in my life and in this season of little ones and many other things far more pressing. But God made a way for this to happen, from the recording to the hardcopy of the CDs. This whole process has changed how I see my story and testimony of coming to God.  In the midst of my self-centeredness and brokeness he was alway there patiently waiting. Always loving me, and calling out to me to come. Never rejecting or condemming me. Today my past does not define me and I do not find my identity in it. The past is mere history. I am a new creation. Praise God.
This song for me is a declaration that it is settled. Life is not perfect, pain and dissappointment still knocks on my door.  There is still seasons of hardship and times of uncertainty. These things are not my favorite but it doesn't change what or why I believe that Jesus is the “the Way, the Truth, and the Life”. In fact it only makes me run harder to God. It is settled. I don't struggle with God, whether he is or isn"t. He is and to anyone who wants to know all your have to do is call out sincerely and listen.  He will answer. 
This final song is a celebration of Christ and what he did for me and everyone who calls him Lord. This song is unlike any song I have ever written in style. It was hard to record. It didn't come intuitively, but  I am happy how it turned out.  
I have been given grace. I have been set free. I have been saved. There is nothing I have done to deserve this. My response to this is to share this good news.
I know to some this will sound like a lot of religious nonsense. I completely get that. It would have sounded like that to me a few years ago. On The Rock is the gospel. 
And I will continue to pray…
