Roll Away the Stone is where I move past the concept of higher power and I give a name to this God that saved me. This God who knows me. This God who Loves me and calls me his son. This God who laid down his crown, became man and suffered and died for me.
Coming to believe was not done lightly and for a lot of it I was  kicking and screaming. This was a long process. I had so many false ideas that needed to be killed.  I also was afraid that if I didn't have it all figured out right now he would strike me down. I feared as well God asking me to do something I didn't want to do like become missionary or a preacher. I had a very inflated perception of myself ( I probably still do lol) . God was and still is so patient with me. 
 
What worked well for me in A.A. was it being a spiritual not religious program. The idea of progress not perfection. It took the preasure off needing to know it all now and having it all figured out.  Even though we talked about being able to make your own higher power what you want I always knew it was the God of the Bible. Once my sponsor in A.A, told me that I am the type of person who if he had a knock on his door and on his door step was a bag with a million dollars I would have to find out who gave it to me. It would bother me to not know. I just wouldn't say "great a million bucks" but would have to find out who was responsible. Jesus was the one who gave me this "million bucks".I needed to know this higher power by name.

So for this song I just wanted to declare the person of Christ in song and with my lips for anyone to hear. My favourite line is " Jesus is alive why do you look among the dead in a borrowed tomb for a moment"?
In the last chapter I ended it at my first A.A meeting and the man who saved my life. I spent many good years in A.A. and I am so grateful to the people I met and the honesty and love I was given. I learned much. I was able to see the truth about myself in piecemeal. I actually still believed I was a pretty nice guy. Truthfully i was a liar and a fraud. I learned that I wasn't well and I could get better. This didn't excuse my actions or people I hurt. It helped  me understand, so i could change and try to make amends. It has been an amazing journey. I made many mistakes but I never had to drink again. Many people spent a lot of hours listening and talking to me. There has been many revelations, and experiences some painful and some mountain top.  One thing I know for sure is I am no longer alone and myself and my problem are not unique. I am good with that. Through it all God has been faithful and over time I let go and slowly let the old man die.  Today Jesus is my lord. This song is my declaration.
